Glossa Manual

Getting Started

In what order do the data have to be arranged?

The easiest way to arrange the data in the order, that Glossa expects, is to use this Excel-template (also works with OpenOffice and probably most spreadsheet programs). Please note, that only the first two (coloured) columns – the word and its meaning - are mandatory, but different meanings of a word should always be separated using different columns.

All of the further columns may or may not be filled for any given word, according to your personal taste and needs. However, if you do provide these further data, Glossa offers some more options, especially when it comes to filtering the words.

If you cannot use this template or don’t want to, you can create you own spreadsheet using the following column layout (headings are represented in rows for overview purposes only):

Finally, it is also possible to create a simple text file using any text editor, that same order and one of the above-mentioned delimiters, e. g.:

gehen;to go;to walk;;;;German 1.01;verb;12;ging;gegangen;
sehen;to see;to watch;
drehen;to turn;

You’ll probably find that this method is the most inconvenient, that’s why it is not recommended. But it is possible.
